43rd Annual Riverland Cycling Weekend A Grade Junior Scratch
Will hopefully see some of these Hardtops at the Tassie HTA in March.
All hail the mighty 385 series.
I shouldn't have sold my 390FE powered 76 F100. Previous owner did a lot of work including 4V heads, aluminum 4bbl intake, headers, mild hydraulic roller cam set, and top loader 4 speed in a short box truck.. waht a blast that was...
Revs like a sbf. A hot build with EFI for E-85 105 octane my goal.
Just get right after it! That's how you start a dyno video. Very cool. Very real world. This thing really 429 ci?? That is seriously impressive power.
The storm footage is phenomenal

whats the name of the yellow car, I can't find it anywere
Can you tell me what number was on it?

Great post. End to end action.
Holy crap! 160 in a Beetle.
Great result for Edward on his blackbird.
Love the wombat on the dash.
What was the point of posting this vid. Just some random footage of nothing.
As per the video description it was a washed out event due to rain while I was there, so no runs to watch.
@@coupe545 yes of course, you showed that. I did not connect them. My bad.
TY
Here’s your new motor she has 300 dyno hours now good luck
Carb is not set up right! Fuel is being pulled out of the accelerator nozzles doing the full length or the run. Cab needs anti pull over nozzles!
Can someone tell me why only 2 of the 4 pipes are glowing on that one bank?
This woll teach all those fans of expensive euro supercars, long live Aussie muscle cars 💪👍
Chipmunks arrived! 7:12
Is that all???
The 460 eats crank bearings.
That's incorrect if you're having an issue it's with pump oil filter or clearances especially rod to rod side clearance with steel rods and 6500+ rpm set it at .015/.020 put .0025 on rod and mains we run over 8000 on ours with no issue after we opened up the roof side clearance
Should have used a cross bolt with bolt main cap.
Ford should have stuck with this engine.
Mad Max cars! Aussie's and Americans have a need for speed!
Bother, I missed these when they were going. Are you guys ever organizing any more cruises these Days? or have you all pooped out because you are too old?😋 The F/book site doesn't exist any more...well I cant find it. If we ever get summer this season, it would be nice to cruise, lots of newer builds around...plus the old guys....
Impressive numbers and it sounds awesome! I'm curious why you chose a 429 crank instead of using a 460 crank to get 30 more cubes out of it. Did you use an off the shelf piston or have custom pistons made and did you have to fly-cut the valve reliefs deeper for the P51 heads?
Could you guys tell us what the compression is and if this is going to be a race motor or otherwise thank you!
Wow, I just saw the compression ratio down below. 11.4:1 is simply amazing for a pump gas motor what incredible power are you running 91 or 93 octane?
Australian 98 RON...The equivalent of US 93.
@@saraco429 Thanks!
Love the 429/460 385 series insane power potential
They havent won anyhthng. Chevs run all over them. And no one can tell me why!
Ford 💪💪💪
@@raginroadrunner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@raginroadrunner Well, Fords Got the Fastest Street Legal ''Drag and Drive'' Car in The World.. Even Taking Out PRO MOD Chevy's But, That ain't Really Anything in your world I Guess?
@@raginroadrunner Probably cost ay. If they were cheaper to built then everyone would be campaigning them. Follow the money trail yeah?? There can be converse examples like the gen 2 Hemi but you get stunning visual appeal - and cred lol. No one cares about a 385 except hard core Ford types. FWIW, I think the 385 is a fantastic platform. Kaase makes heaps of parts for them. I'd have one with his Boss 9 heads on, no probs at all.
I bought a 1970 Galaxie with the 429. $2000. Mid 14s in the 1/4 & 20 miles to a gallon. The 428s got 14 MPG and were slower. I never got why. Unfortunately the frame rusted and the 429 ripped apart. I still wish i kept it. It was a beauty.
Hope mine gets that kind of mileage lol big block twin turbo with a 6 speed
Great alternative to a much more expensive muscle car.
Americans are goofy they have a big screen monitor but scale the software imagine down so only child can see it 😂
Lsx heads are copied from levelands...now Ive heard it all. Not even in the same zip code. Sure the builder needs all the armchair instructors here lol. Hes running it in .Dynoing a new engine isnt centered around redlining it for a power #
A LOT OF TOTALLY AWSOME BUILDS!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE RACING ON THE SALT FLATS!!!! A TOTALLY AWSOME VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING.
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!!!!! GREAT RACING BY EVERYONE!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS AT 200 MPH!!!!!
Well that was boring thank F I skipped most of it
Really given it a workout
Cool vid mate! We got fucked over by the rain at Bonneville Speed Week again this year too. The World of Speed meet is coming up if the weather behaves it's self, I have a new streamliner to run.
That sucks. My first time seeing the lake flooded so that made up for it, feel bad for the all the competitors though.
@@coupe545 We took the old liner to Gairdner in 95 & had a rain issue as well, it's always a roll of the dice. ua-cam.com/video/dQ3VOeILdM0/v-deo.html
would have been nice to see some times but it was cool to see everyone's different take on a salt racer, proper auto art!
my dad is the orange car with number plat RATBAG
I swear, it only rains in the desert if there is a LCR scheduled SMH
What kinda cam specs on this? Sounds healthy but not too crazy. I'm curious to see how it compares to the 598 we are currently putting together.
If you look really close at the LS engine it resembles a small block Ford 351 windsor more than a resembles A 350 small block Chev..4 bolt heads, similar oil systems..almost identical bore spacing. Heck even the LS heads will even come within a hair of bolting on a 351W block.. The LS bottom end resembles more of a modular bottom end..Yea superior to the Windsor bottom end.. And the LS heads are light years ahead of the Windsor for efficient easy power. IMO Ford could have been where the LS is in the aftermarket if they'd had done an updated small block with the same bell housing pattern.. OHC build power but people like simplicity.. My 2 cents
THE LS IS COMPLETELY BASED ON FORD DESIGNS. IT'S A REGURGITATED 427 HIGH RISER FORD AKA RAISED PORT 351 WINDSOR. NOT ONE DESIGN ASPECT OF THE OLD SMALL BLOCK CHEVY LIVES IN THE LS. THE LS IS 1000% BASED ON FORD DESIGNS. CHEVY COPIED FORD, BEING THE MOST CRIMINAL THING TO EVER BE PERPETRATED IN THE RACE WORLD. ASK YOURSELF HOW TO EPA ALLOWED THEM TO GET AWAY WITH MAKING A RACE ORIENTATED SMALL BLOCK FORD. GM HAS HAD THE EPA IN THEIR BACK POCKETS FOR DECADES PUTTING PRESSURE ON THEM TO HIGHLY REGULATE FORD AND THIS IS THE REASON FORD WENT MODULAR. ONCE FORD ABANDONED THE PUSHROD MOTOR, IS EXACTLY WHAT GM WANTED SO THEY COULD REDESIGN THEIR SMALL BLOCK USING THE FORD WINDSOR DESIGN PUTTING THE HIGH-RISER PORTS ON IT. SOMETHING FORD COULD HAVE DONE DECADES AGO BUT FROM STRICT EMISSION REGULATIONS PUSHED ON THEM BY THE EPA WITH GM HIDING BEHIND THE CURTAIN IS WHAT TIED FORD DOWN FROM DOING IT.
block and bottom end was modeled loosely after the Northstar...taken from the LT5
Ford Mod motors make more power stock heads and blocks breathe better and block strength is by far superior.. LS has excessive internal oil leakage due to cheby junk design another issue GM used “communication ports” or windows between the cylinders, above the main bores, but that leaves very little metal to hold the main bores and cam tunnels in place and can lead to wear problema in the LS the cam and crank are like noodles in there, and it wipes out bearings and lifters. This is why Richard maskin of dart machinery to said that LS was the most pathetic engine he ever worked on I agree if Ford would’ve updated the 351w modernized it the LS swap would never of been a thing.. you are absolute right about people wanting things easy they can’t be bothered to learn dohc engine even if it’s far better for making power… it’s the human way average person doesnt know back then one person built a whole car now there’s 30 different guys for every part.. people don’t like to learn no real passion
@@CoyoteFTW I agree 200% with everything you said.. Even the Amsoil Engine Challenge forbid the modular against the OHV engines. No way they could compete against a modular. My point was the swapping of LSs into Mustangs makes me sick.
More like the LS copied the Cleveland being they have similar strokes, bore size and deck hight.
Thought I heard piston skirt slap at idle. Engine shouldn't be dancing at idle either. Check for debris in the pan and filter just to be sure. If it's good, run it like a scalded Mustang !
No doubt they found your assessment of their 715hp engine they built to be totally invaluable 😂
What an awesome sound.
That header on the left side looks real screwed up. Needs to have a straight line header like Mickey Thomson or Richard Petty did via lakester style header. Should be 800 plus HP !!!
Is what it is, only way it will fit in street car it was made for.
9.5 Deck SBF?
big block
I think the Blue Cresent's are 10.4
